Jill Place, MA, RD, CCN has more than fifteen years of experience treating the whole person . . . WHOLISTICALLY! She has advanced psychotherapeutic training in addiction, weight loss and eating disorders. Currently, she consults to one of the top alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities in the United States. Jill is also an internationationally-recognized Complementary and Aternative (CAM) practitioner. And has used this expertise to formulate a revolutionary regime to repair the ravages of all types of addiction. She uses dietary changes and nutritional supplements along with profound psychotherapeutic techniques to affect permanent lifestyle changes that therapy and 12-step work alone just can't give you! Jill's Background After successful teaching and acting careers, Jill became interested in nutrition and wellness by working with and troubleshooting huge seminars for Harvey and Marilyn Diamond of Fit for Life fame. After several fruitful years as a lay nutrition counselor and healthy foods caterer, Jill began her Dietetics education at California State University, Long Beach, graduating magna cum laude with a BS in Dietetics in 1990. She also did her AP4 Internship at CSULB and received her certification as a Registered Dietitian in 1993. After graduating, Jill wore many hats as spokesperson for Health Valley Foods, HMO Health Educator, dietary consultant for pharmacies and nursing homes, private practice nutrition counselor, CAM author and motivational speaker. Jill also maintains a private practice in Los Angeles where she specializes in Addiction, Eating Disorders, and Getting Lighter. She also does nutritional consulting and teaches and writes about acting in her "spare time". Jill's Credentials Jill Place has enjoyed international recognition for her CAM, cancer and nutrition expertise. She has served on the Editorial Panel for the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutritionists' (ASPEN) Oncology Diet and Nutrition Manual and published a peer-reviewed journal article on nutritional supplements and cancer for the American Dietietic Association's ON-Line publication. Jill's clinical writing is also featured in several textbooks; she wrote an article on mushrooms and immunity for Nutrition and Integrative Therapy, and wrote an entire chapter on CAM for Nutritional Issues in Cancer Care. Jill has also been invited to speak worldwide at many venues, including the American Dietetic Association and the Dietitians of Canada, on nutritional supplements and cancer. She has also keynoted and cajoled many types of audiences from television to corporate America.
